Two Brave Women Leaving for Ukraine Tuesday, September 9

Monday, September 8, 1997

Sue Johns of Pennsylvania and Nancy Stephens of Florida are leaving for a two week mission to Transcarpathia. The purpose: FIRST, work with the Sabbatarians through Mission Nazareth to help establish one or more dental clinics in western Ukraine. Dental care is greatly lacking. Earlier this year we had shipped a number of dental chairs, a Panorex and dental supplies to Mission Nazareth. What is required is know-how to get things working.

The SECOND purpose is to check in the villages for special Transcarpathian crafts that can be brought back to the United States and sold. Perhaps in this way we can help the people in Ukraine, primarily Sabbatarians help themselves by finding a market in the United States for their wares.

Sue Johns is a dental hygienest and has been connected with dental work for years. Her husband, Dr. Jim Johns is a dentist in central Pennsylvania. Nancy Stephens is certified in full and partial dentures and has had 36 years experienece in dental technology. She is a current member of the National Board for Certification, associate member of Florida Dental Laboratory Associan and a member of the Palm Beach County Dental Laboratory Technical Society. Sue and Nancy's skills will complement each other as they set things up in Khust, Transcarpathia.

They are determined to get the clinic functioning as they get the Panarex and other X-ray machines working.

These ladies are to be commended for their courage travelling alone, not knowing Ukrainian and Russian. We ask for your prayers in making this mission a success.
